This is a very flexible software that uses top-quality colors and graphics, so your designs really pop.
For example, the most basic type of car design software are 2D CAD (computer-aided design) programs, like Adobe Illustrator, which are used to only design the outside aesthetics of cars. These are lower cost and easy to learn, but far more limited than other programs. It also has several features designed to improve the efficiency of the car design process. This is because its smart, intuitive design makes it more accessible than other programs, but it still offers all the tools you need to make high-quality car designs. Another great thing about Illustrator is that, unlike many other car modeling software, it has apps for iOS and Android. This allows you to design anywhere, anytime through the device of your choice, and the iPad app supports Apple stylus’, allowing you to get extra creative with freehand car designing.
Another beginner-friendly 3D modeling software to consider is SketchUp. This offers more basic car design tools but has an unlimited free version and doesn’t require a download, making it the top free car design software online. There are various license options available, meaning Solidworks is widely used by hobbyists as well as professionals. Budding car designers have used it for everything from concept sketches to full car models and models of car wheels. It’s even been used by hobbyists to model McLaren cars, making it a good option as a race car design software. A multi-functional 3D car design software with tools for modeling and sculpting, Blender includes polygon mesh and NURBs modeling for creating extremely precise, complex models.
Particularly for more expensive car repairs, it's a good idea to get estimates from different shops in the area, according to Brian Moody, executive editor at Kelley Blue Book. Once in a while, you may encounter a really complicated issue that a dealership is best-equipped to handle with special tools. But if you take your car to a mechanic that is experienced working on your type of vehicle, they should be able to get you back on the road in the vast majority of situations. While dealership repair shops tend to perform top-notch work, once your car is out of warranty you’ll generally be better off with an independent mechanic that charges lower labor costs. If possible, it’s helpful to start building your relationship with a shop when you need minor maintenance like an oil change or a tire rotation. You'll get a feel for whether you like the shop, and the stakes are much lower with this type of maintenance than if you’re going in for an expensive repair.
Do you dream of owning a vehicle that is uniquely yours, designed according to your preferences and style? In this ultimate guide, we will walk you through the process of designing your own car from scratch. Whether you’re an aspiring car designer or simply a car enthusiast with a vision, this guide will provide you with all the information you need to bring your dream car to life.

Patents are only available for parts of a car that are visible in “normal use”. There are many examples of it being used to model whole cars like Tesla Cybertrucks as well as car parts like tires and engine covers.
You're much much more likely to be able to negotiate repair prices at an independent shop, according to survey data from Consumer Reports. There are also online tools and forums that can give you a sense of how much people typically pay for the repair your car needs. For more complicated issues, you can try a few mechanics in your area and see if anyone will take a look under the hood without a payment agreement.
Seek out reputable companies or individuals who specialize in custom vehicle fabrication and discuss your project with them. They will have the expertise and resources necessary to turn your design into reality while ensuring compliance with safety regulations. When you get a price quote, ask for a breakdown of the costs (i.e. how much you’re paying for parts vs. labor).
These are built for creating manufacturable, industrial-grade car designs. These are the most expensive and complex type of car design software and are used by companies like Tesla and Aston Martin. Alias offers a wide variety of features that makes it a favorite of car designers.
Rhino 3D is one of the few car design automotive software that offers a native mac app, and has a wide range of powerful modeling tools that make it suitable for modeling cars. Unlike most of the other car designing software on our list, Adobe Illustrator is a vector graphic design program rather than a 3D modeling software. This means it’s suited to creating 2D visual designs of cars, rather than building your own 3D models.
On the other hand, it can be difficult for non-experts to sort out what parts they need. Also, your repair shop may get discounts that make their parts prices cheaper than what you can find on your own. In any event, by exploring the options, you'll be able to make a more informed decision. With a good mechanic, the repairs will prove to be long-term fixes and the shop won’t insist upon doing work you don’t actually need, which will save you money in the long run. Android Auto, developed by Google, is a mobile app designed to seamlessly integrate Android devices with a car’s dashboard information and entertainment head unit. Luckily there are plenty of tutorials and even full courses for most of the best CAD software for car design, but make sure weigh up budgets and time restraints.
One particularly interesting is its use by Dave Clark who used it to both create and visualize designs for cars featured in Mission Impossible, Terminator, and Ready Player One. This is very common in car manufacturing and companies typically use several different software instead of just one program. One of the biggest car manufacturers that uses Alias in the design process is Aston Martin. This case study explains how Alias allowed the Aston Martin team to consolidate on one standardized, collaborative tool for all its surface creation modeling, therefore streamlining the design process.

You may get different mileage depending on how fast you drive, weather conditions and trip length. Your actual highway mileage will probably be less than the highway estimate. As is the case with most software, the more money you spend, typically the better features you get.
Adobe offers a wide range of stock car designs, and there are even more car vector templates available from third-party sites, which you can access for free and then edit in your Illustrator account. As 3D modeling is a lot more complex than 2D designing, Adobe Illustrator is a great beginner CAD software for car design – especially for exteriors. It’s also super well-designed and easy to use, which is another plus for newbie car designers. This is due to various factors, including Blender’s suitability for modeling seats which are based on soft materials, so it’s an ideal car interior design software.
There are some exceptions, like Blender, which is a very high-quality software that’s completely free and open source – but generally, capabilities are dependent on budget. Bear in mind that Fusion 360 is more limited when it comes to controlling things like surface curvatures than the likes of Alias, but it’s certainly more beginner-friendly. Plus, there are lots of tutorials to help guide you through the process.
For 3D designs, Blender is a very capable open-source free software that offers more advanced modeling and sculpting tools – but will require more technical knowledge and experience to use effectively. Buying your own parts can be a way to save money on car repairs or things that need to replaced routinely, like tires. You can compare prices online from companies like Advanced Auto Parts or RockAuto, order exactly what you need, and have your mechanic do the installation or repair. It’s easy to get ripped off on car repairs if you’re not knowledgeable about vehicles and don’t do your homework. Drivers may not know what repairs are necessary or what the costs should be for the repairs they do need.
Ideally, the shop will subtract these fees from the final repair price if you end up having the work done through them. Auto parts stores can be a great resource because they typically offer free code readings and battery tests. If you can figure out why your engine light is on at a store like AutoZone, you may be able to avoid paying a repair shop for diagnostic services. I was recently laid off, so I’m looking for any part time income that won’t interfere with job hunting time. If you do, you must create a user name, or we will not post your comment.
Clark explains in a blog how he uses Soldiworks CAD to draw, conceptualize, and model cars and then Solidworks Visualizer to produce renderings that are shared with executives. Not only does Solidworks allow him to produce top quality renderings, but also to visualize them in settings like highways and deserts from a more rounded perspective. In addition to NURBs, Rhino 3D supports point clouds, polygon meshes, and subdivision geometry. The latest version of the software, Rhino 7, allows you to create organic shapes with a range of SubD tools. There’s a fairly steep learning curve, all things considered, but there are courses that teach car design using Blender, as well as numerous YouTube videos showing what’s capable with this program. This vector graphic design program is easy to use for 2D visual designs, especially if you have some experience with other Adobe products like Photoshop.
Aside from the occasional subconscious scritch-scratch or vigorous shampooing, it’s kind of just … there.

The shock factor of scalp treatments is integral to its appeal, according to Sara Hallajian, a Santa Monica-based trichologist and hair loss and scalp specialist at Âme Salon.

"This sounds like snake oil," one dermatologist, who's name I'll keep out of this story, said when I asked her to comment. "On social media and YouTube it has an ASMR quality that is an instant draw. It's like what you didn't know you needed, because you didn't know it even existed." We steam the scalp to remove build up and deep clean pores.

Not that I was worried; the service was an indelible mix of both gentle and decadent. As Borges applied the essential oils, she rubbed my scalp, focusing on certain pressure points I didn't know existed. Virtually anyone can be a candidate for a trip to the head spa, but Chiu adds that there are a few folks who might benefit from a session in particular. She decided to offer her New York clients the Japanese service after listening to client after client ask for advice on scalp problems, such as dermatitis and hair loss.
These treatments have become so essential for some patrons of Tou Dao Tang that members often keep their own combs and brushes at the spa, labeled with their names, for practitioners to use when they visit. After my service, I went back to the real world, the one filled with hot concrete and steaming subways and impending deadlines. Still I felt much lighter — both on my scalp and in my mind. Just before the end, my hair marinated in a mask Borges made especially for my scalp from a mixture of mahogany wood and organic sage, which she often uses on guests with oily scalp, as the ingredients help to rebalance sebum. Then, Borges took a close-up camera to my scalp, showing me the goopy, excess sebum building up there. After taking a peek, Borges said it wasn't a lot of sebum, relatively, and asked if I'd washed my chemically-treated (green) hair recently — I had the day before.
I usually go two weeks between rinses, and she noted that had I come in close to the two-week mark I'd notice an even filmier coating over my scalp. Chen said her head spa helped kick off the trend in L.A. She plans to expand CXG into Beverly Hills within the next year.

After training in Japan, where head spas — a.k.a. an over-the-sink process where treatments consist of scalp massages — are commonplace, she moved to New York and began cutting hair in salons. The subsequent $108 Classic Scalp treatment was a five-step process. It was especially massage-oriented, with repeated scalp kneading, hair combing and cleansing over 90 minutes, and involved five teas, or “herbal soups,” each infused with different organic herbs. The rounds of tea-washing focused, respectively, on detoxification, rejuvenation and stress relief, nourishment and calming, repairing PH balance and hair loss prevention. This treatment is designed to eliminate build-up and impurities. It includes scalp herbal scalp mask, hair bath, toner, conditioner, shoulder massage & neck massage.
HAIR SALON
Head spas claim that scalp treatments promote circulation and detoxify, calm and hydrate skin, all of which help prevent dandruff, itchiness, dryness, inflammation and hair loss. I wasn’t sure whether that was true or not, but it sure beats injecting my own plasma into my scalp at $1,500 per session, another recently en vogue beauty treatment aimed at promoting hair growth. For 90 minutes, CXG’s Alyssa Nevins repeatedly scrubbed my scalp and washed my hair as part of a six-step process. The aromatherapy head massage was a dry one, in which Nevins rubbed tingly-feeling tea tree oil into my scalp and then applied an electronic, cephalopod-like device, its multiple arms whirling away tension. That was followed by four shampooings, each with a head and neck massage. People come to Borges, a hairstylist and trichologist, for many reasons.
"Just like how all salons offer cute, blowout, color, or keratin, pretty much all Japanese salons have a head spa on their menu, too," Borges added. So even if your favorite TikTok head spa practitioner is miles away, you may be able to find a treatment at a nearby J-beauty spa. I got in the chair (one of the coziest salon recliners ever… no dreaded neck pain detected), and was covered with a blanket and eye mask. Though I couldn't see what was going on, Borges softly cooed every step to me, so I wouldn't be surprised by anything.
The experience ended in the salon, with tea and sweets and an “anti-hair loss treatment.” Nevins sprayed an herbal serum all over my scalp. She then used a high-frequency scalp therapy device to disinfect my pores, a treatment the spa said would fortify hair follicles. But once the treatment was over, my scalp told a different story. Once again, Borges showed me the camera-view of my follicles, and the sebum we'd noticed just an hour before vanished. My head felt clean — maybe the cleanest I've ever noticed it. I could feel smoother skin on my scalp, and you could have probably seen your reflection in my hair, that's how shiny it was.

At $220, the service is a little cost-prohibitive to regularly maintain on my editor's salary (yes, I paid for it in full — no writer freebies here). But if I had Upper West Side money, I'd go every month. Borges tells me that a head spa "can be found in almost any Japanese salon," so I might shop around and try other treatments.
But head spas do exist, and have for quite some time — it just has only been fully accepted by our Eurocentric beauty culture more recently. "While the term 'head spa' refers to a specific style of scalp treatment from Japan, scalp massage and treatment is huge throughout Asia, from Japan to India," Chiu says. "For instance, in China and Taiwan any hairstyling service at the salon automatically includes a neck, shoulder, and scalp massage woven into your shampoo and conditioning steps. It can take up to 30 minutes and is like a treatment in itself."
We finished it up with a simple blowout, and I was out the door. "Many Asian healing traditions are often enticing and alluring to a western audience that has not seen or experienced it before," she explains. Though New York City-based board-certified dermatologist Dhaval G. Bhanusali, MD, had not heard the term "head spa" before I reached out, after some TikTok research he answered a few of my questions. "There is a cultural element to a lot of these practices and while we doctors and scientists evaluate based on the science available to us, there are generations of experience in other countries around many of these, or similar practices," he says. TikTok may have fallen in love with the head spa, but some in the medical establishment are not so sure.

This was especially evident at Tou Dao Tang when I visited. After my scalp’s close-up, Chen led me into a dimly lighted room with multiple spa beds and traditional Chinese harp music. Birds chirped on the soundtrack as I changed into a robe and reclined on the bed. On one end was a shampoo basin, at the other a foot bath, filled with warm water steeped with Chinese herbs. It was early February, and I generally appreciate rituals around renewal this time of year, clichéd as it may seem.

A beautiful, classic brick patio covered by a circular wood pergola complements nature’s greenery. Plant floral bushes to line the space, add a bench or other seating, and create privacy for reading, conversations, and simply relaxing. Other touches include allowing a vine to grow upwards on the supporting structure, hanging baskets from the top of the pergola and a decorative plant stand for even more beauty. There are four must-haves in any small garden, Trilling says—including a fire pit or fireplace, plants in varying sizes and textures, a spot for seating, and a water feature—such as a gurgling fountain. The energy of the water brings a grounding vibe and soothing sound,” Trilling says. Sexton recommends considering a cabana, which can impart a resort-like feel in any backyard.

To begin your garden planning, think about both what you want to use the space for and how you would like it to look. Create a welcoming path into your garden with a pergola covered with lush foliage and flowing vines. A combination of perennials and annuals line the path and delightfully lead the way.
Work with a garden designer
However, this also turned out to be a mistake, evidenced by the emergence of hordes of slugs that slithered across an adjacent patio and climbed the back wall of my house that abutted the clover. I learned that slugs are attracted to clover that is allowed to grow tall since the shade and perpetual moisture beneath are conditions that allow slugs to thrive. Hand-painted floors were the jumping-off point for designer Amy Peltier’s soothing primary bedroom design. “It was so much work, but it turned out beautiful.” The firm wanted the space to feel “light and airy and breezy,” and incorporated fabrics and wall coverings by Thibaut in a soft color palette. Peltier and designer Marina Kelly installed an arch to divide the bedroom from the sitting area, breaking up the large space.
What Koenig is describing actually reflects a design philosophy called biophilic design. When Janet Koenig and her partner, Tom, bought their Cardiff home back in 2011, the house reflected its 1980s vintage, especially in the primary bathroom. Between the gold and beige colors of the tile and the carpet, “it was really, really gross,” she said.
Limit the amount of plant varieties, and plant in large textural drifts to help focus the eye. Match the color of your exterior paint to a dominant flower or foliage color in a planting bed, then apply the same paint to a piece of garden furniture for repetition and a pleasing composition. Combine plants with complementary colors such as blue and orange to create visual tension. Adding another pop of color such as red lends an additional layer of complexity and creates an unexpected surprise.
Hang string lights for a mood boost and warmth
Not only will it attract wildlife but the sight and sound can be incredibly soothing especially in town scenarios. Luckily, there are fertilizers that are specially formulated for orchids. During the spring and summer growing season they should be fertilized weekly. When using water-soluble granules (or liquid concentrate), dilute to ¼ strength of what the package recommends. Only fertilize after watering since the fertilizer could burn the dry roots.
Choose the right shade perennials, annuals, flowers, shrubs, and trees. Create a beautiful rose garden for your front or back yard, small or large garden, and learn what to plant with roses. Bees help your garden thrive, so treat them well by growing some or all of these bee-friendly plants.
Choose indigenous plants and succulents along with vegetative varieties
Whether you are a skilled gardener or a first-timer, you can create your own inspiring landscaped garden by combining a hedge with short, shrub-like plants and a small flowering tree. Raised bed gardens enable you to choose the type of soil you’ll use to match the needs of your plants. Dish gardens are trending these days since they can add a unique accent to your garden. It also adds an interesting aesthetic to any garden in an economical way. Now here’s something that’s both simple and sophisticated at the same time.
Cozy Stylish Chic Creative Director Jeanne K. Chung and designers Angela Lee and Caroline Meloche brightened the dark wood-paneled library to create a space where residents can unplug. Wallpaper was added to the ceiling and the backs of the bookcases, and heavy wood blinds were replaced with soft draperies and Roman shades to make the space feel lighter. The firm used a mix of fabrics and wall coverings by Ralph Lauren Home from Designers Guild throughout the space.
The best planting season is early-to-mid spring and early-to-mid fall. Good contractors will get booked up early, so the quicker you start to develop the actual design, the better. Work out how much you can afford to spend and see where you can make savings easily. A new-look garden can be very expensive, especially when it comes to modern garden designs, where a clean finish is essential. Some garden designers will recommend spending 5 to 15 percent of the house value on the garden, which, in turn, will add a similar, if not larger amount, to the value of your home as mentioned.
